Liverpool forward Fernando Torres is the most popular English Premier League footballer, according to the Barclays 200 Global Fan Report. Barclays, the official sponsor of EPL, conducted poll among the 32,000 football fans from 185 countries. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo stood in second and third places.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is the most favorite player for fans in the history of the English Premier League and Steven Gerrard stood in second in the all time list also. Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson is the most favorite manager for fans in the current and all time list.
Most favourite moment: Manchester United star David Beckham’s goal from half way line in 1996 against Wimbledon. I too will never forget this sensible strike. Absolute genius!
Fan’s dream: Most of them want to see Barcelona sensation Lionel Messi in the English Premier League. They also want to see Guus Hiddink as manager of an EPL football club.

Only problem: This survey was conducted on the official website of English Premier League. It is not good to compare the results of this survey with the popularity of other clubs and players in other leagues. In India, English Premier League is the most popular football event but Lionel Messi is the most popular football player. Brazil is the most popular team followed by Argentina. Diego Maradona is the all time favorite footballer for Indian fans.
